Where the group
stays:
Friendly social buzz and stunning views are a step away from central
Cortona. On
the ancient wall
above the Etruscan gate, is a narrow lane where the house
stands;
the unique panorama across the Val di Chiana is below
and the rooftops of the town are above. The views from
the high-perched house are fantastic yet the bustle of the
piazza is just in the background.

Views from where the
Art group stays, at the rear ,towards the centre of Cortona and
from the front across the
Val di Chiana to Lake Trasimeno. This is one of the best views
and positions in Cortona.

Peep through the narrow gaps between houses to Lake Trasimeno
or from the shuttered windows
of your apartment, only a very short, steep walk from the
Piazza Repubblica,
Via Nazionale and all
the central aspects of Cortona.
In this quiet yet central location,
you will receive superb hospitality
from your hosts and the locals. We have stayed here in summer and at Christmas and
its a very good way
to live as Tuscans do, whilst having
a
complete change of environment
and a relaxing break.

Group comments:

"Very
central, you feel as though you live here.
The people are great and
there is excellent shopping, food, local wine and entertainment.
It's as though time is suspended here and you are in a bubble of
stress-free bliss"
"They
were actually waiting outside the apartment to welcome us. The
accommodation was exactly what we wanted. Mimma was especially nice
to us and made us pasta and Dino gave us a few drams of his
homemade wine, which was great. Santa
Maria della Calcinaio was really amazing and the Fra Angelico in the museum
was beautiful".
"We can hear the
soft local accents as people pass by. Then we drift the short
distance to the piazza to drink local wine in the enoteca and decide which delightful restaurant we will dine
in tonight - a difficult task because they are all very good,
from pizzeria to ristorante." |

Tuscany is
the most famous of the 20 regions of Italy.
In central Italy, its western edge is coastline, but to the north,
east and south it borders with five other regions: Liguria, Emilia
Romagna, Marche, Umbria and Lazio. Tuscany is celebrated for its
wealth of art, illustrious history (Etruscan and Roman) and richly
evocative landscape. It's a place where the past and present fuse
into a delicate harmony. Whichever part of the province you choose
to explore, you will find an ancient land every bit as captivating
as its reputation
promises. Your
only problem is deciding what to leave out. Tuscany
Traveller gets behind the tourist exteriors and finds the real
Tuscany to make your choices easier and your travel even
better. There are
different types of holidays: you can laze by a pool or learn to
cook, paint or take photographs, see
Etruscan artefacts and Roman architecture.
There is ballooning, bike tours on beautiful roads and sports, including fencing and rowing. Let us tailor-make your stay or find
the best villa, farmhouse with swimming pool or apartment for you
to stay in.
