Gino Severini

 

Born and educated in Cortona later lived in Rome but found his inspiration in Montmartre, where he dedicated himself to painting. Severini was born into a
poor family in Cortona, in 1883. His father was a junior court official and his mother a dressmaker.
Severini met Umberto Boccioni, soon after they both arrived in Rome and developed their work together. The vias and churches of Cortona show his work today.
